Dr. Hayley Scanlon is a clinical psychologist that provides psychological consultation to individuals and groups, both in-person and remotely. I was engaged to help create a brand identity and web presence for her, aiming to build trust and promote her services.
We started from zero - no name, no identity, no website. I was responsible for finding answers to everything. I put together a simple brand from creative commons-licensed materials, and iterated on that until we had a simple message that could be used in promotions as a call to action: 'find yourself here'. Alongside that work I decided upon a colour and typographic scheme, and started scaffolding a simple one-page site that could be used as a canonical source of info about Dr. Hayley.
We did not have any hard requirements around using a particular tech stack or including specific pieces of functionality. With the freedom this gave me, I decided to use Astro to build the site, using React where needed to create more custom pieces of UI.
Alongside this work, I provided general technology consultation for Dr. Hayley, including setting up business accounts for e-mail and instant messaging services anc configuring a domain to ensure sent messages are considered trustworthy.
I consider this project to be very successful because I focused entirely on creating value for Dr. Hayley. From the choice of tech stack for the website through to the file type of the exported brand assets, every choice I made was to create value and reduce friction. Through this ethos of value creation, I was able to achieve near-perfect lighthouse scores on the website's landing page and create a custom-built contact experience that is tailored to generate leads for Dr. Hayley by providing the exact information she needs to secure bookings.
Full disclosure: Dr. Hayley Scanlon is my sister.
